Stamping and Sewing

I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted. With many things on my plate, the time just got away from me.

I've been busy with multiple obligations and projects, squeezing in some sewing and some stamping. One of the projects has been a long time coming, as I finished a sweat suit for my 11 month old granddaughter, Maddie. The fact that I made the suit is not that amazing. But, the fact that it is a suit I cut out for her older sister, Victoria, who is now 6, is! Wow, am I glad to have that off my to-do list!

I've stamped a few items this past week and will include the photos here. If you would like more information about how to create one of your own, please email me, or sign up for stamp camp this Friday night or Saturday morning.

Here are two:

Pink/Black Thank You card:

I used Pink Passion, Basic Black, and Whisper White cardstock; Pink Passion and Basic Black stamp pad; Baroque Motifs stamp set; Sizzix Big Shot; Birds and Blooms Sizzlets die set; 1/2" circle punch; and White 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. All materials by Stampin' Up!

Wonderful Friend card:

This card was created using Boho Backgrounds stamp set; So Saffron, Lovely Lilac, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White cardstock; Pretty in Pink and So Saffron stamp pads and Lovely Lilac Stampin' Marker; Pink 1/4" grosgrain ribbon; Scallop Edge punch; 1 3/8", 1 1/4", and 1" circle punches; So Saffron brad; Crafter's Tool Kit.

Hopefully, I'll have to time to stamp and post some more pictures tomorrow.
Happy Stamping!

I Got My Copy of the New Catalog!!

Yea! I finally got my copy of the new 2009 Idea Book & Catalog. It is beautiful. I love all of the color combinations used for the projects. And, of course, there are many new accessories and stamp sets. I don't know how I'll decide what to add to my collection first.

I am still waiting on the catalogs I ordered. Hopefully they will be here this week. I received confirmation that Stampin' Up! sent my order to the supplier but, I have no way of tracking them now. I just have to wait--and that is so hard!

Included with my catalog was the new Decor Elements Catalog. They have many new designs available. One of my daughter-in-law's favorites is the new Fairy Tale set. You guessed it--it contains a princess, a castle, a frog, etc. And, better yet, there is a stamp set that coordinates with it!!

Tonight we had to cover my tomato plants, as we are expecting a freeze here in sunny Central Florida. Hopefully they'll make it through. They are loaded with tomatoes and I can't bear the thought of losing them now. We picked four that were close to being ripe before we covered the tomato plants and our plumerias.

No real crafting today, as I had several other commitments. Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive.

I will be offering a class on making this cute Valentine Box with 4 Valentines on Friday night, February 6th at 7:00--my home. If you would like to sign up for this class, please email me at Lorna@StampWithLorna.com. Cost of the class is $10 and I will supply all materials.

2009 Idea Book & Catalog is Here!

The new catalog is online! I don't have a copy yet, so I've been looking at it online myself. There are so many beautiful additions. I'm sure you'll agree!
Some of those new items are: new designer series paper packs, jumbo brads, flower brads, corduroy buttons, new ribbons, new Decor Elements designs, new Sizzix dies, and Sizzix texture plates--to name just a few.
So, log in to my Stampin' Up! website, download the catalog, grab that cup of cocoa and peruse the pages of a beautiful catalog.
Then, tell me what you think. I'd love to hear your feedback.
I hope to have my boxes of catalogs very soon.............................

A Beautiful Day in Florida

It's a beautiful day here in Central Florida! The sky is a gorgeous blue and the temperature outside is very nice. Yesterday was a gorgeous day, too.
Because of our moderate climate, I have been able to grow tomatoes on my patio and have been overwhelmed with the success so far. A friend told me about Earth Boxes a while back so, I thought I'd give it a try. Sometime around the end of September, I made two boxes and planted two tomato plants in each. Right now I have over 3 dozen tomatoes in each box! We have had one tomato ripen on the vine, one that fell off the plant as I was staking turn red, and 3 more about to be ripe!
If you are interested in Earth Box planting, you can go to: http://www.josho.com/gardening.htm and download the instructions for making your own. I can't wait to try other vegetables. I understand that bell peppers do fabulously well.
Here are some pictures of my plants right now.

So, we did it--my daughter, Lisa, and I went to see Twilight on Friday night. We got there a little late so, we missed the very first part of the movie but, having read the book, we understood what was going on. I wasn't too impressed with the pictures I had seen of the actor that plays Edward but, he does grow on you in the movie. It was fun to spend the time with Lisa, especially since she'll be moving back to Canada soon. We've enjoyed having her here but, she seems to want to be closer to her husband. Hmmm, go figure!!

I spent yesterday making a Flippin' Folio like the one that is featured on Club Scrap, (go to clubscrap.com, then inspiration, then cinema) only I had to figure out all the measurements myself. I'm quite pleased with it and will try to post pictures tomorrow. I love making the little albums but, it's getting the pictures in them that is my challenge. The album can hold at least 50 pictures! Now to decide which pictures I'll use in it. I've received several suggestions: 2008 family pictures, granddaughters, a past vacation.

Last night we had a girls' night for Lisa's birthday and shared bite sized appetizers. We called it a Bitty Bite Night and had some yummy things! Then, we made a pizza box with 3x3 note cards and envelopes. Everyone seemed to have a good time and I can't believe my baby is 26!

The set on the top is mine--it uses the new Valentine Love You Much Designer Series Paper, the set on the bottom is Lisa's--she chose a Designer Series Paper set from a couple of year's ago for hers. Both use the new stamp set, Love You Much.

I will be offering a class on this card set in the very near future. Check back tomorrow for the date.

I finally finished New Dawn--the 4th book in the Twilight series! I feel like I've done nothing the past couple of days as I read as much as I could to get it done. I had to return the book to the friend that loaned it to us. Now....................my daughter and I will go see the movie!
Unfortunately, I haven't been very creative the last couple of days so, I've got to get busy. Plans are under way for the first Stamp Camp of the new year. My Valentine's Love You Much bundle came yesterday and I'm anxious to get into it. I just love punches, especially when it coordinates with a stamp!
